Default Mad Salmon Fishing Day

Well yesterday Wed 26th was just the maddest of days yet on my local river The Owenmore. Got to the river at 9.30am and there was fish jumping everywhere, could hardly believe my eyes. Some fishermen had already been through the pools with an assorment of flies, but my deadly purple shrimp flash fly did it again. I started on the town side of the river and lost the first salmon estimated at 8lbs about 10.00am it was very silver and fresh. The wind got up and was in my face, but i managed to hook and land another of about four lbs. I released this one back to the river. I decided to head for the far side of the river, a short walk to coompensate for the wind. I hooked another fish of about six or seven lbs which was quite dark in colour, but I killed it as it was exhausted and bleeding. Another pool up I hooked another large fish which I didn't see, it feckin took one of my purple perils. Anyway the next pool up I had another fish of around five/six pounds, which was fresh and silver. I killed this purely because it was very fresh and had been earmarked for a neighbours supper. Apart from this excitment I had half a dozen or more pulls at the flies without contact. Sorry to say guys no photo's this time, but I am up in paradise (Donegal) on the 6th of next month fishing a trout competition and I am taking the camera. Look out for more photo's of Donegal coming soon.
Regards SDD
