Default trout fishing?

We used to fish ponds like this with power bait, here's the method we used. Put an egg sinker on your line so that it can slide freely along the line. Then put a split shot on the line about 10 to 12 inches above the hook to "block" the egg sinker. Use a size 12 treble hook and pack just enough of the power bait over the hook to completely cover it. The power bait floats and will suspend above the bottom whatever distance you have between the hook and the split shot. Cast this out and set your rod in a holder on the bank (a forked stick works fine). Hang a small bobber on your line between the second and third eyes from the tip so that the bobber hangs about 8 inches down when the split shot is snug against the egg sinker. Make sure you set the wire loop on the bobber so that it can slide freely on the line. When a fish takes the bait the bobber will start to move up as the line tightens. Pick up the rod, remove the bobber as quickly as posssible and strike as soon as the fish pulls the line tight. Hope you enjoy a meal of fresh trout.
