Well everyone glad to be back on the site, after much sadness of sitting around for the winter. We (my son and myself) finally got on to the river last week for the first time for the start of this years salmon fishing season. The season is very slow to get anyones attention before the middle of March, or until someone catches a fresh one. Hopefully thats gonna be yours truly SDD. Well we started last week down stream of the town and the first few casts produced fish straight away. These early fish were around four to six pound, but they had spawned and were what is refered to returning fish. (Atlantic salmon that will finally make it back to sea and return) Most of these fish make a good acount of themselves, not mad fighting fish but good enough for a good struggle and bit of excitement on barbless hooks. My son has only just started to fish for salmon, so it was a good introduction for him to practice on the kelts. Hopefully his next one will burn his hand and make his arm ache. We had a total of 9 for a few hours work in very wet weather, typical really for the Westcoast if Ireland at this time of year. Might take some photo's of the kelts soon and upload them on to the site. Weather to bad for my camera, it don't like the rain. Hey catch you all later, back out fishing.
Regards
SDD
