While flipping through the March issue of Pacific Coast Sportfishing, I see this:
The photo at the top is my friend Kenny, and at the bottom is our group who chartered the Ultra last year in June and pull limits of BIG white seabass!! (I'm the little person just to the right of the center!)
We have pretty close to the same group together again in June this year to go try and repeat the event!
We call ourselves the "Ultra Ghostbusters Dream Team"!
("Ghostbusters", because, for those of you who aren't local, white seabass are referred to as ghosts, because they're usually pretty hard to come by!)
We had schedule this trip last year (and this year) specifically to target the ghosts... The limit goes from 1 fish per day to three in the middle of June, and we schedule last years trip, and this years, to coincide with the first full moon after the limite increases to 3 fish.
White seabass are some of the best eating fish along our coastline, and probably also one of the most elusive. If you've seen some of my other posts, you also know I work with a group raising baby white seabass to be released back into the wild. (I guess if I'm going to kill a few of them, I should be doing my part to help with restocking them....?!)
