It's the biggest bass I've caught, but it's not a large mouth, it's a smallie - 3.5 lbs.

my biggest is 12.5 from Lafayette Reservoir in Lafayette, CA. i was fishing a skitter prop on the far side in about 4 feet of water. i was getting NO bites for 6 straight hours then this lunker jumps up when i drop the line back in the water by accident. i was trying to untangle my line. lol. noone could believe it back at the dock. they were all like wahhhhh???? very few people have seen a bass that size, especially there. it had a $100 tag on it too. lol. it had been there since the first year they planted bass in the reservoir. i took the tag, got my $100, and released the fish off the boat dock to be caught another day. 2 other people have successfuly caught and released the fish since i did. and btw, a guy at the doc had a boga grip, so i know for a FACT that it was 12.5 lbs.

Smile A Memory to Last a Lifetime

The biggest freshwater fish I have ever caught was a 9.5 pound largemouth bass on Lake Fork in Texas. We were on the lake for less than 2 hours and I threw a spinner bait toward some vegetation along the shoreline in about four feet of water.

The next thing I knew, the water EXPLODED, my rod bent nearly in half, and the bass leaped vertically out of the water shaking its large head from left to right, trying to dislodge the lure. Although it only took a minute and a half to get him to the boat, because he didn't put up much of a fight, it is my BEST fishing memory ever! We took a few pictures, weighed him, and then released him.

The image of him jumping vertically in the air is an image that I will fondly carry with me for the rest of my life! When I think back on the event, I put the whole thing in "slow motion" and visualize him trying to shake off the spinner bait.

A memory forever etched in my mind...

My 11 year-old daughter caught a 4# largemouth yesterday on 2# test, in Diamond Valley Lake here in California. Nearly spooled her. I'll post a picture a little later...!

How about one that got away? I caught three 9's and hundreds of 8's and down. But I have never landed any over ten (which is my goal) because I had no scale or the line broke or it stuck on a stump or a lilly pad stem broke the line. And I have hooked probably a dozen that would quailify.
Rodman Resv, Fla 2000 fishing with a buddy who guides on the side using foot long shiners for bait. We were trolling them and we both got hit at the same time. Two males.. his was a six and mine an eight. We anchored and started looking for the bed and after a while we saw a large shape sitting next to a tree. Rodsman's water is crystal clear but the angle made it tough.
We both cast out shiners to it and started gabbing again. He told me that he and his customers had caught 38 bass over 15 lbs over the years. Well I looked and both of our floats were down. And she had them both. He said what pound test did I have. 20 lb on my left hand reel setup. So he messed with her until she let it go. He gave me his right hand reel setup with 30 lb test.
When I set the hook she tried to jump but was way to big. She just wallowed some and he said OMG that is the biggest bass I've ever seen. After a few more seconds she charged the boat and went right under the stern. Flippin said he just missed her with the net. In the meantime I was trying to get that reel in freespool with the wrong hand and the line was singing before it snapped.
He guessed 17 lbs. We marked the spot so he could come back the next day but she didn't. Rodman is full of big gators and 5 lb and larger pickerel.
He asked me what I would have done if we had landed her. Pictures and release of course.
All I got now is a great memory and and even better story. BA
