Default 5 inch Sinko Baits : A Product Review

Awhile back I was sent a generous supply of Sinko Baits to Review ....

this is the first installment (impressions of the Sinko Baits Products) ....

this Review is by Mike Colegrove

Time of Day fished : from 7 am EDT till 11 am EDT
Pond fished : a Private pond owned by a friend of the family ....
Species caught with product : LM Bass and a Yellow Perch ....

Would have had more pics if my batteries didnt cop out on me ....

Date : 6/01/07
Equipment used :

Hook : Eagle Claw # 6 Lazer Sharp Circle Hook
Bill M's O ring and Tool
Reel : Challenger CS 1000
Line : 12 lb Shakespeare Cajun Red Lightin
Rod : Rhino Indestructible 6' 6" this rod is rated as a MH ....
Bait : 5 inch Sinko Stick in Watermelon Green I believe ...

* First note its hard to take pics by yourself so bear this in mind .... also I dont proclaim to be an expert either at taking pictures .....

I got to the Pond very early I was fishing by 7 am EDT ..... and I was impressed by the Get go with this bait .... The Bait casts clean .... and there is little noise if any on entry in the water ..... the Bait will Cast as far as you want it to go ... (depending on rod set up) .... by casting clean I mean that it casts far and easy .... There is a subtle plop when it hits the water but nothing that will scare the fish off ........

Appearance - it is available in many colors ....44 Colors with Salt to be exact and 18 different Clear Colors with No Salt ..... the 5 inch is a very good size of choice when targeting LM Bass .... the ends of this bait are different than most Stick Baits I have seen .... its more blunt .... not as round as most .... but it doesnt hinder the bait any at all .....

Durability - the Sinko Stick is a very durable bait , I did go throu 3 Baits during this test ... I lost one due to a Breakoff of possibly my Personal Best LM ... the fish took to this bait like it had a Pepperoni Pizza in front of her .... she mauled it .... she hit it out about 30 feet from shore .... in about 8 feet of water ..... I let her do her run .... and had her almost in .... near shore was a bunch of lily pads .... and when she got near these she snapped my line like it was Peanut Brittle .... I got a good look at her and she was definatley over 20 inches ... the head on her was large .... my geuss she was easily over 5 lbs ... being that she snapped the line so easy , im geussing she was more .... this Hawg would have been a Wallhanger for sure ..... The 2nd bait was " Stolen " by a fish .... and the 3rd was the one I used the rest of the day ..... I caught over 15 fish with this one lure .... most of the LM were 6 to 10 inches in length ... I did get 2 nice ones .... One was 13 inches which I have a picture of .... and the other was a 16 incher i didnt get a pic of because of the batteries dying ......

Scent - the Bait doesnt need added scent .... Sinko Baits are heavily fortified with attractent .... you could add spray if you choose to .... but during my outing I didnt

How Fished - I used my trusty Bill M Wacky Tool to apply a Rubber O ring and fished it Wacky Style the whole outing .....

What I liked about the product - the Sinko Stick has a Great Fall Ratio ... I love Baits that sink Slow ... and by Slow I want them to Fall real Slow .... the Sinko Stick falls to about a foot depth in a slow count to 5 .... its hard to see from shore if it falls faster in deeper water .... but when I got this bait to where i could see it the Fall Ratio is Awesome !!!!! I also like how this Bounced on the retrieve .... I felt it had more action than some other sticks i have used .....

Concerns with this product - I wouldnt change a thing ....

The Sinko Stick is designed to catch fish ... and thats exactly what it does ...
there is no wrong way to fish it .... and I had a blast today using it ....

Overall rating : Two big thumbs up !!! I would give them a 5 ....

Here is a pic that I did get before the camera croaked for the day ....

a nice 13 incher

They are baits by a PA Bait Company. SINKO BAITS

Unless you have a Ouija Board, PaBassMan cannot answer. He was a good guy that was murdered this spring.

RIP Mike

Please don't.... I'm sure you had no way of knowing... The members here had a lengthy discussion as to whether to remove his id etc., and everyone felt his contributions to the site should be left here...
