Default top water tip?

i was talkin with a buddy about how i like to fish top water and he gave me this tip (which i havent used and was wondering if anyone else had heard of it) Take the line anywhere from 4 to 6 feet leading up to your bait and rub it on a candle or wax, this should make the line float he said. I have to work next week so ill prob give this trick a try on the 4th and repost.

Never heard of that before. I'm not sure I'd want to put any foreign substance on my line.

Ive done it. No harm on the line that I saw.. some monos will sink and draw a different action to the lure. if its on top.... and floats keeps the bait in its natural line/form.

opps forgot to repost on this one, I have used this tip now on pop-r type topwater baits and i find my line gets stuck under the front treble hook much less often. Often my line gets stuck under the front hook and kills the baits presentation. So as long as it doesn't get caught up on the cast it should be alright.
