Arrow Maniwaki....looking for a lake.

Hi. I myself do not fish, but for years my grandparents made a yearly trek up to Quebec. My grandfather passed in 1983 and my grandmother just this year. She wrote many poems of their fishing trips up there. Occasionally my dad and mom tagged along too, before my time.

So next year I would like to see what my grandparents saw, although I am sure it is much more developed then it was back then. I know they went to Maniwaki. The lake they had a cottage at was called, Lake Valet. Is anyone familiar with this lake? I cannot seem to find any info on it online. Whenever I type anything it comes up with information on Valet services in Canada

Any information you have to offer would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi Caryn how are ya? Ya know we all have our own space where we all feel happy. And this personal place of your beloved relatives gives rise to intrigue and mystery. For them it was a place of solitude, wether or not you fish or not there is always somewhere were we feel happy relaxed and at home. The lake where you talk of is difficult to find, as I have had a look for it myself. But ya know if ya don't go and have a look for it you may never know how beautiful it really is, or was to them. And hey, take a fishing rod with you its gotta be good. Who knows it might not be a great fishing spot, but it may be a great place for inspiration to write.
Good luck.
Regards
SDD

Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, I was talking to my dad and he said that it was getting more developed the last time he went which was in the 70's I believe. I have bunch of old postcards to paw through in hopes of some more concise clues as to what direction to look in. It just always sounded so beautiful the way my grandma wrote about it....

......Now all of you fishermen and hunters as well, This is a place that will cast a spell-over you for a lifetime that you'll never forget, for you haven't lived till you visit Valet....©P.C.Dalton
