Default Out Channel Cat fishing years ago ....

I was fishing the river near our house with friends .... and I must have been in my late teens early 20's so this was like 15 years ago .... i got my weirdest catch ..... I caught a Eel .... and he took himself off the hook and came up the line .... and proceeded down my pole .... before he got to me ... i dropped the pole and ran ..... I think I broke the a speed record ... im scared to death of snakes or snake like animals .... well by this time my friends are laughing up a storm .... till it happend to him about an hour later ... and he did the same thing ..... lol .....

    whats your weirdest catch ....

This isnt really "weird" but it was halarious. I was fishing with a friend in my paddleboat, and he had just caught a nice bass, probably 3 pounds or so. well while he is gettting the hook out, it sprayed something, dont know if it was eggs or uhh..... , all over his face! He then cut his line and threw the fish back in, and was really pissed the rest of the time. It was pretty much the funniest thing ever.

How is that weird? Eels are the biggest pest in the world and are unavoidable. Please tell me your secret to keep from catching eels while catfishing in rivers. Unless of course you don't catch catfish while catfishing.

ok i was fishin in one of my fav spots which is a small creek off the potomac and i hooked a bass about 2 to 3 pounds, and no matter how hard i pulled it wasnt moving i couldnt figure out why i couldnt land the fish. I could pull it to within a few feet of shore but not any closer. Appon futher inspection i noticed a crankbait in the other side of his mouth and the line on it was snagged so i had to wade out cut the snagged line to land my fish and new crankbait.

Slim - please return my crankbait that i lost to a catfish in VA - LOL

My buddy hooked a nice channel on a crankbait last Friday, fish was missing part of the pectoral spines. Sunday I get a call, he is fishing the same spot and he catches the same fish, still had the hook marks in the mouth and missing spines.

Oh yeah, this time the crazy cat ate a Yum Dinger!

That is a weird story PABassman. We don't have freshwater eels around here in So. California. But we have some BIG catfish. Sorry I don't have any weird catches to share.

ok heres a couple..... I caught a ratfish while salmon fishing in the puget sound.....
Ratfish are the scourge of the ocean to Pacific Northwest fisherman, by they are VERY cool underwater. These fish are related to sharks and have cartilage based bodies. The do not swim using their tail fin like most fish - they use their large pectoral fins instead. Ratfish are usually not too approachable during the day, but at night they will often come right up to a bright light.

    2. While catfishing on the yakima river one hot afternoon.... I kept getting my worms taken... tink...tink.... hook SET and then bam felt like I hooked a log.. snap went the line dammit.. this went on for some time.. Cause im a tenacious little shit.

So bigger pole bigger heavier line.. tink tink hook SET and the log moved.. HAHA ill at least get it out of the good hole (I thought) slowly reeled her in.

Then all of a sudden it surfaced right next to out little 10 foot jon boat....
the BIGGEST sturgeon ive ever seen... It kinda did a loch ness monster surface and dove down took my line with it and snap* off it was.
I still get chills at the size of the monster....
