Angry The monster or Beast of South Point SAT/SUN

I hope all is well the crew here at myfishsite are not working to dam hard. Dean has left the island but has left me with one of the best Chief's mess's around. This gang truely gets shit done. Dean has truely got me ready for year on DG! Well this weekend I went out with a boat full of Senior Chiefs. We hit two quick wahoo(25 ,45 lbs) in the first hour then it got really slow after we missed something around the two hour mark. I think another wahoo as my lure came back to the boat with some fresh teeth marks. We then trolled for 1 hour with nothing. We had been running two clown color skirts with pushers heads on the out riggers and a jet head down the center long from the DEAN Wilson collection. I was next in the chair when out nowhere the center rod just and its Penn international 50 TW started to Screem like lunch horn in the a ship yard. I quickly sat down and started the fight . The Monster of South Point had taken the jet head and was heading to Austrialla.. I looked down at the reel with amazment and this monster would not stop. So for some stupid reason I thought with my big ass Polish thumb I could slow this monster. As I started to see gold from the inside of this huge real. I Jammed my thumb into the spool and ooooOUCH I 'M SURE YOU ALL COULD HEAR ME SCREAM AS THUMB WAS COOKED BY 200 pd test running out of the reel . I got two quick pumps in with the reel and rod the monster slowed and began coming in slowly but surely, 20 mins later he ran again and I thought I was going to die as this beast of the sea was still pulling. I would get some line in then he would pull have of it back. This went on until the 30 min mark when this beast of the sea started to give in as I reeled and pumped. I was starting to win and get the monster toward the boat. Somewhere around the 40 min mark . I heard from the mate there it is," a large silver and blue torpedo " then this beast took off again but I held him without losing any line . Then another sighting by one of the Chiefs on board. Was this beast going to be dinner and break our streak with officers/CHiefs side bets for the biggest fish ?? As we got to the 45 minute mark I was done ready to give the rod away when the first mate started to slowly hand line this monster in, letting go only to let him fight if another run was in . At the 46 minute I felt two quick hammer pulls from the beast and he/it was gone. I sat there frozzen and shaking my head. What was it ? What did I do wrong ? What could I have done better. This was my first ever really big game fish. No one will know. Some say maybe Black Marlin others Say maybe large yellow.fin tuna. All I know I was done.

Sunday Am I was up thinking about the fish that got away. I went down to the marina and talked to the boat captain . He told me that the we did nothing wrong and the fish had won. I as sat there in the Marina looking at the morining boats comming home. I wished I could go again. Well one the mate saw me in my somber mood and asked if I wanted to go today. I thought for about 1 min and said yes . He knew two guys that were going out and would take extra to help with cost. Well luckey me. My pops had just sent me 100 dollars for fishing. So I was on the water in 30 mins heading to south point to catch the monster. We hooked up on two 45 pound tuna in the first two hours. My turn on the chair was next ! As prepared for a batlle in my mind the the drag started to scream again almost like a flash back from day one. I saw my chance to redeem myself . I grab the rod sat down and start to watch and instant replay from Saturday. However this time as I stopped the fish He did one quick head thrash and the line was loose. He was gone. I reeled in the SLACK line within A coiuple of min's I saw my beat up Rapla dancing across the waves. When I got the line aboard the front hook was gone and the rear was bent 20 degree's from straight. The Monster won again and was again on the short end . I will be back next week to try to slayer the beast or monster from south point. Thanks brother for the lures and all the guidance ! Till we drink to the foam

Dude, sounds like you ran into some monsters. You did nothing wrong on the first one, it was just big. Probably a big yellow or blacky. But, I think you would have seen the marlin jump if that was it. It also could have been a big shark. We once got a 200 pounder to the boat before cutting the line.

Well, there is nothing you can do to be better prepared, just bring some luck with you and you will get one of those monsters.
