Default Little Wabash River

Warm weather is here and I am wanting to go fishing in the Little Wabash River. I have only fished in a river once recently and was wondering if anyone had any pointers for river fishing in general. Also take the following specifics into account:

*Over a foot of rain last month has flooded the river (currently 20 ft deep).
*Last time I fished this river it was also flooded, and I fished off a bridge on a back road. Good strategy or bad?

Also, has anyone else here ever fished this river?

UPDATE: The river is finally falling. Before the day is over, according to the graph, it will fall below the 16 foot floodstage. May even be fishable tomorrow on my day off

I am wanting to fish the little wabach up here near Effingham. Anyone have any pointers for me? It will be out of my Kayak and I am not above a good portage if needed. Hit me with a PM if you EVER think it might help. (I do not care if it is 2-10 years after I post this)

A boat would be a great advantage. It allows you access to midstream without the current making your bait/lure arc back to the bank and you can move along the river much easier. But I'm too poor to afford one

Oh, I have a boat but I would rather use my kayak (I like fising from it more). The water up here resembles more of a creek than it does a river. I do not even know of anyplace I could put my boat in. I think I will dump my kayak in the water next to a bridge and just paddle as far as I can in either direction. What are the conditions around your neck of the woods. Does it look like a real river?

I guess it looks pretty river-like here in Wayne County normally (its flooded right now). There's a place under the bridge on Route 15 where I've seen people put boats in the water (it was flooded when I saw this, but it might work normally too.

By the way, I actually found a boat I can afford It's a 12' jon boat with a trailer and trolling motor for just $250!

Sounds like a good deal on that boat. My buddy has a 12' jon boat we use at the Salem Reservoir. Hey, Jboz - check your PMs I am about to send you something.
