Hi group, I thought that I'd introduce myself to the entire community. I'm 47 and have been fishing since my dad and grandfather gave me an old bamboo cane pole when I was 4 years old. I think I might still have that old thing around here somewhere. Hey I'm out to prove you don't have to be able-bodied to enjoy fishing. Despite my wheelchair I still go out on our boat a 20' Grady-White Fisherman that has had a few modifications made on it so I can get on-board without killing myself or others. We go out on Lake Erie for walleye and yellow perch weather permitting. It's not so easy to fish from a wheelchair when the boat is bouncing around in 4 or 5 foot waves so we have a 3 foot rule around here. We call a bait shop on the big lake to find out the wave conditions and if they're over 3' we don't go out. That's when I head for the local farm ponds for bluegills and bass. I hardly get skunked

but hey that's why it's called fishing and not catching. I know it helped me get through the 10 and 12 hour days of physical rehabilitation I went through about a year after my injury. You might even say it is a form of therapy for me now just as it was motivation back then.
