Default Just One of the Guys.... Really!

Hi Everyone!

I'm a Southern California ocean angler, mostly, but starting to get into more freshwater.

Looking forward to some new chats, new faces! And my next day out on the water!

Thanks... that fish in my avatar is a 200 lb yellowfin tuna, I caught on a 13-day trip in December, 2005 aboard the sportfisher Shogun running out of San Diego into Mexican water. Fabulous trip!! I caught 4 fish, that totalled 700 pounds on the scales at the landing.

Damn, nice Yellowfin! My largest ever is about 60 lbs, 200 lbs is a MONSTER!

Did you fish off that island where they always film the fishing shows (I think Roland Martin did one there).

See any Great White Sharks?

Would that be Guadalupe Island? If so, no, we caught these out in the middle of nowhere, no land in site. The Finger Banks, I think. No sharks, nothing but big tuna. We got into some "little" ones one day... around 80 pounds. They were released. The smallest we kept was about 120#. That one was donated to the galley. 25 of us on the boat, we ate that fish twice for dinner, and once as Sushi for afternoon snack.

I did an 8-day last year that we went to Guadalupe. The yellowfin didn't want to play. We got one on the boat that was 70#, but that was it.

The next biggest fish on the trip was a 40# yellowtail.... that I caught, oddly enough!
