Hey everyone glad to be back, hope ye all didn't miss me to much hey. May I wish ye all a VERY HAPPY PADDY'S DAY today. If its not in yer blood, then no harm, gud luk to ya anyway. I have a question to anyone on the site who may have fished out in, or near the Virgin Isles. "Is it any good" I am goin there on Friday, in fact we fly to Dublin on Friday, and fly to Chicargo Sat, and on to Miami to stay overnight. From there we pick up the FREEDOM OF THE SEAS (the largest passenger ship in the world) the next morning and sail round the Caribbean for a few days with 3 island stops. Sorry I just had to mention it, for the sake of fishing. I think they do a tour from the ship one day fishing, and another deep sea. Anyhow I hope to have some good photo's of fish I have never caught before. If you would like to be awe struck and sick have a look at Freedomoftheseas.com WOW what a boat, sorry ship, sorry floating city. REEEEAly looking forward to that then, yeeha. Well as for the salmon fishing back here in the area, not much happening. Over the past three to four weeks or so there has been hundreds of returning kelts in the Bangor Erris Owenmore system A good days sport on the fly for beginners to salmon fishing actually, these fish have spawned but nearer to this time of the year, they mend well for their return to the saline waters of the Atlantic. Last week I managed to land what I thought was a fresh salmon, only to discover that it was a kelt of about 8lb. These salmon loose between half or more of there body weight whilst in fresh water. I have to go and get organised for my holiday then. Hope you won't be to mad at me for this one, its a one off, and I deserve it. REGARDS SDD ![]() |
