When I think of all the places I have fished, I keep going back to Donegal. One because of its raw rugged immence beauty, two its warmhearted people,three its wild atlantic scenery, and more so the fishing. Check out index.png and if you are ever so fortunate, to save enuff dollars, euros, yen, deutchmarks, or any currency that will get you there for a short while. Then let me know, because I will organise that you stay with local people, for the whole experience. Turf fires, home cooking, and gr8 craic. It is just such a special part of Ireland that truly is wonderful. Now I sound like a tourist. I fished one of 120 local lakes, yes 120. And for choice, well you'll find it hard to choose. Normally the weather will sometimes pridict what lakes to fish. And whichever way the wind blows theres always a lake to suit. But from superb fighting wild brown trout, to the silver sea trout which pound for pound fight far harder than a fresh salmon, to the stocked rainbows which will dog it out till the end. More often some lakes closer to the sea will hold wild pollack, which tend to be compared to bass. As soon as they are hooked will dive furiously to the bottom to find cover in any weed, crevice, or rock available. I just might move there myself when i win the lotto, dreams eh.

Sounds like a great place - what are the fishing license requirements and regulations?

If you go to Ireland Travel Advice david you will get all the info there. I know there are some restrictions on salmon from the begining of the season, but none on rainbows and wild browns. Seatrout have to be over 14" etc. Its pretty relaxed over here as you can imagine, so you won't be stopped from fishing if ya nail a few. Regards SSD
