Smile Fresh Salmon

I was well overdue a day on my local river here, so went for it early this morning. Fly rod a few flys and off at 6.30am, The river was still kinda high and was looking good, a few days prievious, twenty or so where caught. Unfortunately I was working then but today was all mine, I started fishing some yellow pattern shrimp flies, and had great succes. Bagged a couple of grilse about 3lb (which were returned) in the first hour before moving upsteam, where a half an hour later I nailed a good fish and had it on for about twenty minutes. But fishin being fishin the fish win some times, and that one did, and took off with one of my best flys. Undetered I headed into the village for a good old Full Irish breakfast and some stong coffee, and headed straight back to the river. This time down steam I spotted two fish rise, and hooked one of them. Yep it won again, but a least I got my fly back. Further on this one took my fly, an orange shrimp and battled around the pools for about 30minutes. But this time I WON. Fishings GR8 went ya battle a good one isn't it?
Sure the worst days fishing, is better than the best day at work.

Hiya Tex, Weight 6/7 on a light Diawa Whisker 11ft seatrout rod with a large arbour reel, and plenty of backing. It sure is heart stopping when ya hook up with one of these ok. I have hooked three other bigger fish this year in the same river, and hardly seen them, except for the fact that they were tearing off downstream back to sea as fast as they could. Just held on until the line snapped, nothing you can do when they turn for sea and run like crazy. Just looked at the reel in amazment, thinkin shit! if I get my hand on that its gonna burn. Hey hope ya got yer boat sorted man. Regards SDD
