Paddy my fishing partner has been struck down by a mystery illness, the doctors say he will never walk the river bank again. Thats is if he ever makes it out of the bed. I was sitting a few weeks ago pondering on how it would be if you couldn't get down to the river ever again. It just depressed me more and more. One evening last week when I was sitting quietly with a tear in my eye, thinking of Paddy. My supportive girlfriend came into the room and sat beside me. Dave please snap out of this sadness love, you should go fishing. How could I go fishing without Paddy, a dear friend who I have spent many a hour on the river with, had great craic in the bar on the way home from fishing. No more competitive spirit and rivalry, no more early morning hunting adventures. "Please Dave, my girlfriend said, you have to go fishing again. Its what Paddy would have done, he would have found a new partner and gone fishing. Besides you can always take the photo's and show him. Yeah I thought to myself, yeah lets do it for Paddy, lets go and catch them for Paddy. I realised how life is to short for everyone and how fishing really did make me happy, and headed off with Nick a few days ago on the river. We (my girlfriend and I) took the photo's up to the hospital to show Paddy last night, where Nick and I had been fishing for trout. An old spot of tranquility and beauty. Well as I showed Paddy the photo's my girlfriend has lost the plot, she has hit the brain train head on. What the f--k are you F-----g doing fishing with Nick you b-----d. I don't think she like's Nick.Paddy just lay in tears, laughing coughing and dying as my girfriend beat me round the room.
