On October 31, 2007 she was involved in a violent confrontation with Japanese fishermen as she tried to disrupt their annual dolphin hunt in Taiji, Wakayama. She paddled out on a surfboard, with five other surfers from Australia and the United States, in an attempt to reach a pod of dolphins to stop them being driven into a nearby cove and killed, but they were intercepted by a fishing boat before they could reach the dolphins. The fishermen used the boat's propellers to block their way and at one point struck out with a boat hook in a confrontation that lasted more than 10 minutes before the surfers were forced to return to the beach. The surfers drove straight to Osaka airport and left the country to avoid being arrested for trespassing by the Japanese police.

i think that way so brave of her 2 do. its cool how she actually went and confronted them. but i just saw on E! news that she has an arrest warranty 4rm JApan for doing that. eventough-i think she is a great role model-people should follow her examples

I've never seen a celebrity stand up for a cause like Hayden. I just felt awful...I saw it on TV and felt sorry for the dolphins. I saw blood in the water. So is eating sushi a good thing now...in the expense of those small dolphins? I never really like sushi...and killing those creatures for a good high costing meal. Then those Japanese are as harsh as they were when they killed people in World War II. They can still be barbaric...if they weren't they could stop and have a talk with Hayden and the people they were with. They could have hurt anyone of them trying to block them with those propellers.
