wow!!! you could have been a religious writer... whatever you said, it doesn't matter... what matters most is that "I believe in Jesus Christ" although religious sects are booming out like mushrooms... we still all believe in ONE GOD.

Very good augment, that's for sure with a lot of foundations of proof. The foreign wisdom being held captive in a strange land, far away from their beloved Israel, which became catalyst for the mixed local myths with Babylonian gods of that region. This in-itself would help form the main emphasis of the Old Testament when in exile. We must also must consider Moses who's influences derive from his Egyptian teachings and the famous Ten Commandments for social structure and law. Then came Ezra the Scribe, who dictated too five other scribes, his knowledge and written records of the past to form the lost ancient law for the Holy City in Jerusalem. Then came the Greek influences into the scriptures before Jesus was born with the Pharisees in-charge of the Great Temple of God.Here is where we find that the Deed Sea Scrolls differ from those in Jerusalem by the Teacher of Righteousness and those of the Wicked Priests. Then came the induction of Pagan Rome into the scene through integrated wars of control and the adoption of the Christians who would no doubt back the famous Constantine.I leave the rest for you all to analysis the rationale which is rather long but the question is very short.

Brethren,But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Clearly you're right. So much of the doctrine and dogma around Christianity has its sources in the other "pagan" religions of the ancient near east and, beyond that, in what Jung called the "collective unconscious" that provides source material for all of the world's myth systems. The question for me is what does it mean to be a follower of Jesus without being a believer in Christ. In other words, I define myself as Christian, but to me being Christian is about struggling to follow (and at times argue with) the way of living articulated by Jesus, not because I think it is better than any other way and not because I'm afraid of going to hell, but because I find it to be a meaningful, life-affirming way to live that has helped me connect with a transcendant reality that I call God. I am inviting other similarly-minded people to consider joining a new group I have created-"faithfulunblievers-Christianity without Rules." This is a forum for intelligent discourse, ethical discussion, theological dialogue, and spirited debate. It is also a forum to build a community among people who struggle to define what it means to be "Christian" without dogmatics or doctrine. If you are interested in being a part of this emerging community, please e-mail me.

uff I hate cut and paste so I didnt read it, but yes Jesus life story is basicly a rip off of the Persian god Mithra who the Roman legion was worshipping before Christianity was forced on them

The Catholic Church does not recognize the gospel of Thomas. The facts that have been presented are far from the truth. If someone is intentionally telling lies and trying to lead people away from Christ, then they will be held accountable to Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world. The answer to the question is simple. Satan can never do anything original, he is a copy cat. The Trinity is the only Creator of everything. Satan copies God and tries to distort everything holy, and turn it into something evil. The pagans copied things that were already in existence that were giving praise to God the Father.Satan can't create anything, so he tries to confuse truth with lies. The word "Satan" actually means "the deceiver."

How I see Jesus: Well I see Jesus as an ascended master whom we should listen to. It seems a lot of Christians don't. If someone was to approach me with "Do you read your bible?" I might answer "Do you read your Sermon on the Mount?" Jesus delivered a message from God [God and Goddess? The Powers that be?] on how to live on this earth peacefully with our fellow creatures. Unfortunately certain people didn't like the message so naturally they killed the messenger. Did Jesus rise from the dead after 3 days? Let's get something straight. That's the wrapping on the Gift. The Gift as I see it is the teachings of Jesus, namely The Sermon on the Mount. The wrapping is the story of the virgin birth and his rising from the dead. Is it true. Maybe. Maybe not. What's true is the Sermon on the Mount. Is Jesus the Son of God. Yes he is. We are also the children of God. So what else is new?Basically as I see it, the Sermon on the Mount is the quintessential teachings of Jesus and everything else is the wrapping on the Gift.
