I bass fish for Australian Bass that is, they are one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish you can get over here.

I do alot of bass fishing at Pleasant Creek Park,in Palo,Iowa. When fishing there,I use live leeches. The bass cant seem to resist them!Crawdads work good also.

I was just going to say, use some crawdads. The the summer time the bass love some crawdads in the shallows, just before night time.
I too have just started getting into bass fishing again. Now that a boat comes into play, it's a lot easier to get out onto the water! I fish a local lake that holds a great number of bass, but they lack in size. You might catch about 20 in a day, but the biggest one would be 2 pounds!

Being from Iowa, its also getting colder.Yesterday,I went bass fishing and caught a 20 inch largemouth using a white spinnerbait fished really slow. That was the only fish I caught but I missed a couple of strikes.Downsizing lures when it gets colder is also a key for catching bass. Good Luck!

Been bassin for quite a few years. Fishing local and club tourneys. Have a couple of websites in my signature that have some good tips. Hard to beat Florida for the big ones (Calif, Tx and Fl probably the top 3).

Hey thanks to everyone that has replied, I did catch a couple largemouth lately by downsizing bait. Also I talked to a couple pro's at the recent tournament on Lake Norman, and they said carolina rigging and not jigging, but straight retrieval slowly reeling for that reaction bite. Also told me spoons and sometimes topwater baits that are noisy such as Poppers. Hope that helps others, caught my last couple bass as of late on a zoom pumpkinseed worm with a fire-tail, fished carolina rigged, but i did jig it, put it right through a big bunch of bluegills I saw and sure enough there was a fatty gulping those bluegills up! Good luck to everyone, more help on winter bassin is still appreciated
