I have the most success for brownies with small fathead minnow or 1/2 a nightcrawler. Wax worms, meal worms, redworms, salmon eggs, bread, corn, Yum Tout Krilla, and Power Bait also work.
Can you catch trout with bait?
Fly fishing seems too complicated for me but I would love to catch a nice brown trout.
Can you catch them with bait? and if so what bait should I use?
Thanks.

I use 2" husky jerks or a trout magnet for the stockie Browns, 'bows and brooks!
Of course, stocked trout are retarded!![]()
Yes, PA, stocked trout are really retarded. They will eat gum wrappers if you put it on a hook with a bobber. Fish streams and you will get a real taste of what a REAL trout is like to catch!
To answer your question. Depends on the trout. Us mostly flies or a small husky or small rooster tail. If you fish for steelies, it's good to use salmon eggs.
Fishing is a lifestyle.....Don't ever forget that!
