what kind of salmon? i would try drifting corkies and yarn. reds, oranges and green colors. i would also try setting up a drift outfit with a copper or nickel colored dick nite spoon on the end of it too. colors i would use are red, orange, greens and white or pink lures or bait. really depends on what kind of salmon too. try plunking some roe with corkies too. ive gone salmon fishing a bunch of times with these lures and did pretty good this year. steelies i would use a slip bobber and a pink or purple maribou jig at the end.

i fish in pulaski, n.y. in salmon river and did great. what you need to do is not use a whole sac of eggs but only use one single egg and put it on the back of the hook. Cast upstream and let your line drift down. you also have to hold the line in your hand while doing this. As soon as you feel a bump on your line... jerk it like you are setting a hook. Also make sure you have 2-3 split shot about three feet above your bait. As your line is drifting down stream... on a good run.... your bait will get sucked into the salmons mouth.... hence the "bump" feeling. also make sure that your leader is mono filament so the salmon cant see it. IT takes some practice but as soon as you know the feeling of the bump.....your luck will change.
