How about telling us what it is you do now. What kind of bait do you use? For me, I use chicken or beef livers on #4 circle hooks. Sometimes I'll use nightcrawlers. I use my Ugly stick which is about 6'.5" with a bobber. Other times I use a light sinker just enough to get the bait to the bottom. In Florida, I find the best time to catch them is early evening, around 5 PM in the fall or spring. Not that we really have either season LOL.... but when its cooler. In the summer, mornings are the best time, while its still cool out. I guess what Im saying is, keep at it. Try different things, change lakes if you have to, but dont give up. Another thing a buddy taught me is, dry out chicken livers in the sun on a cookie sheet and sprinkle heavy with garlic powder... let them sit in the sun till good and dried out. Says its a real good stink bait. Have fun with it and let us know how you do.

speaking of shrimp...... put some in a zip lock bag with some sea salt and let sit. It will toughen the shrimp up so they dont break off the hook so easily and make excellent bait. Make sure you let them sit for a while..few weeks or a month wont hurt anything other than making them tougher to hold on to the hook.

I would just like to add a suggestion. Instead of using sea salt to toughen up the shrimp, chicken livers, chicken gizzards or even hot dogs, use garlic salt. It will provide scent to the bait that is well liked by catfish. It is sure good to meet you!

I was making a reasonable suggestion on a catfishing technique that is legit. I am NOT telling Ga. River Rebel to hightail it on over to my fishing store and buy his catfish bait from my store in my post. I am not a pushy salesperson. My love of fishing comes first. Quote:

Not to sure about that last post
but I like to use crawlers and fish right off the bottom. I seem to have best results around 9pm just as it starts to get dark.
