Default Sturgeon?

I read this article the other day about sturgeon? I've never heard of such a fish, any of you guys ever see or catch one of these?

Attack of the flying fish! | Fishing Africa

It's quite a strange looking fish, but from what I've read, they can do some damage?

LOL... my bad, I meant Sturgeon...

Any of you ever catch one?
Are they really that dangerous?
Are they difficult to land?

I guess that's what I'm asking PADavid

Haven't caught one, but I want to.
Don't think think they are dangerous unless one smacks you in the head while you are boating it.
They are difficult to land because they are BIG!

yeah, I imagine they must be pretty hard to land...and from what I've read, these fish leap out the water and tend to smash into people causing serious damage...

A lot of lake here in California stock Stergeon. Never heard of them being dangerous. They do get really big and put up a good fight. Not unusual for a big one to pull a boat around. I've never caught one but have plenty of friends who have.

It has to be a really big one though if it's gonna pull a boat around...

So does anyone have a video clip of a sturgeon being caught?

I have caught one 11-12 ft long.
Roll mop herring or worms or cut bait.
They CAN pull a boat NO PROBLEM.
They taste better than they look thats for sure..
But I can drive 1 hour and be @ the best spot I can think of
They arent dangerous persay.. just big and clumsy but they are pretty much docile bottom feeders.

Easy to catch personally...

It is a couple hour drive for me to get down to the good fishing grounds for me, but there are plenty of them down in the Columbia River.

I don't know though. Any fish that big is a danger if it decides to move around much.

I've seen a few more video clips on you tube... and Damn, those fish are big... and powerful... but seem lazy... like they don't put up too much of a fight but they are hard to boat/land cause they so big... One video clip was actually quite funny cause the guy wasn't sure if he was stuck on a log or stuck in a sturgeon...

A friend of mine has caught a few big ones. (Like 100# big...) I understand they put up quite a fight...

There's a slot size in California. They have to be a least so big, but not bigger than some size. I don't remember off the top of my head.
