Default Top Water Rig

A buddy of mine was fishing in a shoot out last night and his partner pulled out a form of a carolina rig, but top water. He said it looked like this.

Line went to a golf ball size float, tied a leader about two feet long from it. A floating bug was the lure at the end. Was doing the 1,2,3, stop, 1,2,3, slow across the water. A small striper hit it and scared the hell out of his patner, said it was funny as hell.

Anyway, Just wondered if anyone had seen or used this set up before?

Thanks,
Splash2

Yeah, I have used similar stuff. They call them "float and fly" and use them for smallies, and trout as well.

It is just a simple way to cast a small or very light lure
