Default What is the best way to catch trout in a North Georgia river?

I have been fishing since I could walk (mostly saltwater) but I have never been trout fishing before in a mountain stream. From what I hear, trout fishing is very tricky and requires a lot of skill and patience. I will be fishing in the Toccoa river in North Georgia. What type of tackle should I use and what type of bait? Lures? Worms? Flies? How should I fish for them? What tactics should I use? I will be using a light spinning rod and I have chest waders as well. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I go to Toccoa all season long with my husband. My husband grew up on that river. He uses rooster tails and catches them left and right. Light spinning rod is the best so no worries about that. It doesn't take much. They hook themselves! Hope that helped have fun!

try black rooster tails with gold blade....small in size, on an ultralite outfit with 4 lb line. You can also use Berkley Power Bait in the rainbow color...solid paste balled over a short shank number 8 hook using a split shot at least two and a half feet up the line....this allows the bait to bobble in the current and increases hits.
