Here's some of the ones I got.
Hopped in the car pretty early to beat the traffic and get down early for the 10:00 1/2 day on the Dana Pride. Got into town around a quarter to 7, and after a quick stop at Carl's Jr. for a great breakfast burger, we were off to the races.
My dad and I were greeted with a pretty strong onshore wind - and man, it was cold! I was expecting temperatures into the 80s and 90s! I guess I need to keep track of my weather forecast. Anyway, we were happy to find out that we did have enough to go. So, got our stuff out of the car, and waited the long wait...
Well, after the long wait, we boarded the boat, and set up our rods. George and the crew were awfully surprised that I brought a birthday cake!
Yep, it was my birthday yesterday, and I very much enjoyed it, but after that, it was on to the fishing!
We started out very close to home for nothing. Nothing at all. Tommy didn't want to waste time, so we headed up north. Stopped in about 85 feet of water, and we started catching really nice sandies and rockfish. I managed to catch a nice brown rockfish. But, it didn't really turn on, so we headed inside just a little bit.
I moved around a bit trying to find where the spot was coming underneath the boat. Finally found that spot, and the result was that... I got the bites, but nothing that would latch on! So, I tried a tiny dropper loop - tiny hook, tiny sinker, and I finally got some! By the trip's end, I had 5 rockfish. Meanwhile, people were also catching many species of rockfish - starrie eyed, treefish, sugar bass, and many others. One guy got a huge sandy, and that was the jackpot.
Well, not wide open, but that's fishing. Here's some more pictures of the trip.
Good times, great people, and okay fishing. GREAT DAY!
