With the outstanding bonito fishing in the last week along Laguna Beach, my dad and I decided to jump on the 3/4 day on the Dana Pride. Loaded up with fresh pinheads and medium-sized sardines, we were off to the races.

Our first stop was Salt Creek. The bonito came and went very quickly. Mackerel kept it interesting, but nothing very special. The bonies came and went for the next four hours, and we finally made a move.

Fished a couple of spots up Laguna for nothing, so we moved back down to Salt Creek, and the bones didn't want to play again.

Moved back up the coast for some sculpin and rockfish, and we did get some tasty bottom grabbers. Nothing wide open, but at least something.

I ended up with one legal sculpin - no bonito for me today! Dad took JP with a big bonehead - it's all in the family!

Our final count:
3 Calico Bass
23 Sand Bass
7 Rockfish
41 Bonito
8 Sculpin
3 Short Lingcod (Released)

As you can tell, I was not in the picture taking mood. I guess other boats had some luck today - the bonies are still around. Get on out there and get yours!
